Job site information from CareerSite Advisor

UK’s first career site comparison and search website launches

A new website launches today offering a single reference point for online jobseekers, many with no experience of unemployment or the need to look for a job since the first job board launched in 1994.

As the internet continues to revolutionise the recruitment industry with more than 10,000 online job boards and career sites, CareerSite Advisor (http://www.careersiteadvisor.com) is the UK’s first web 2.0 career site comparison index, listing thousands of commercial job boards and corporate career sites – jobs which often cannot be found on any other job board.

“With the number of registered unemployed approaching two million, the last time the UK saw figures like these was back in 1999 when the internet was still finding its own way,” says Keith Robinson, founder of CareerSite Advisor.

“The idea of applying to a job online was viewed as a desperate measure then, but today it is absolutely essential,” Mr Robinson says.

The web-based service also compares reviews written by other job seekers who share their job search experience and by recruitment professionals. In addition, the website acts as a one-stop-shop aggregating relevant online jobseeker and career advice information.

The decreasing costs of setting up a career website combined with the rise in social networking sites means this type of service is in demand says Richard Tyrie, founder of leading public sector recruitment website Jobsgopublic and Talent Management technology firm JGP.

“We can safely assume the number of websites will increase exponentially and with existing website providers such as Linkedin entering the market, it will become increasingly challenging for both employers and talent to navigate through the various options,” Mr Tyrie says.

CareerSite Advisor works by offering jobseekers the ability to search for jobs by occupation, industry and location, then lists all relevant job boards and corporate career sites. Search results can be further refined by direct employers such as British Airways or University of London, recruitment consultancies like Michael Page or Angela Mortimer as well as by industry, region, trade and industry associations or general sites like Monster or Jobsite.

Career sites not currently listed in the index can add their listing for free, while those who are can take possession of their listing in order to add to it, or for a small annual fee enhance its appearance in the index.

A widget that offers a quick reference search is also available to download, host and display on any websites is also available (http://www.careersiteadvisor.com/widget.php).
