LinkedIn launches Stats for Groups (finally)

Posted on : 11-11-2011 | By : christophe | In : LinkedIn

Forget the manual counting of discussions and comments or the “guesstimation” of demographics characteristics because today LinkedIn launched “Statistics for Groups”. Surprisingly enough, it’s accessible to any group members. (and shareable on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn)

LinkedIn Stats gives you pretty much all you need in terms of looking at the growth of your group, “profiling” your members (Seniority/Function/Location/Industry) and most importantly, measuring the actual engagement (discussions, comments, jobs). No more hiding behind the somewhat “always better looking” number of members: if there’s no discussions or if these discussions don’t gather comments, your group is dying and the x new members don’t mean much.

Oh, and it looks quite good as well.

SalesForce and LinkedIn

As the understanding and adoption of social networks continues apace in corporate environments, we’re increasingly talking about The Social Company or The Social Enterprise (US meaning, not UK meaning). What does that mean? Well one elegant example is the integration of enterprise tools, such as CRM with social: using the “professional graph” to build richer contact information and relationships. This is a good intro from Linkedin and SalesForce.

LinkedIn Signal

LinkedIn Signal should be available for most of you today. If you haven’t already seen it, it allows you to create live, dynamic searches for topics of interest to you - just like a twitter search for #socialmedia will show live conversations around so that topic, so you can now save relevant searches via Signal. This seriously improves the relevance / importance of updates, as - frequent, relevant updates will now put you front of mind to the right audiences. In other applications, candidates for example might save a signal search for a job title. Check out the video below.

Employer Reputation 2.0

Paul Harrison recently spoke at Beament Leslie Thomas’ breakfast seminar about “Employer Reputation 2.0″. You can see key takeaways from this seminar here, as Paul discusses with BLT’s Don Leslie about how brands are being defined in the social space.

LinkedIn is going to kill your corporate website. (Don’t be scared, it’s good for you.)

LinkedIn pages and Product page

A few months ago, while attending the Social Collective Conference in London, Paul Harrison (our lovely CEO) said that “your corporate website is going the way of the fax machine”. The audience remained pretty divided about the topic…

As you already know, every company can have its page on LinkedIn. What started as a simple company profile / glimpse at your company’s activity and employees is increasingly becoming a fully functioning and social media integrated corporate mini-site. LinkedIn recently launched the Product and Services page where companies can showcase their core products and services to carefully targeted audiences. Overall, LinkedIn is now getting closer to offer companies pretty much everything they would expect from a corporate website:

- Brand/company presentation

- Product and services showcases

- Careers portal

- Analytics

But the main strength of LinkedIn company pages resides in the very essence of social media marketing: targeting and reaching  people who matter. For employees or job seekers, for potential customers or purchasing managers, for industry influencers or interested observers, LinkedIn is not only a broadcasting/showcasing tool any more , it’s a precisely targeted and easily trackable multi-faceted branded engagement tool.

Even though Company pages don’t allow you to directly sell your products/services or to publish your financials and still lack appeal when it comes to personalised branding and mainstream B2C retail activities, LinkedIN is still becoming increasingly essential for companies whereas the good old corporate websites are losing reach (the SEO power of LinkedIn is amazing) and relevancy (the lack of social media integration often hides the website away from non-obvious stakeholders).

Well, if you’re still reading this, you probably want to know a bit more about how this precisely works. Here come the links:

Build your pro network on Twitter using LinkedIN

Having all your clients and customers following you on Twitter has always been a pain (until today). One reason for this is that you probably won’t be able to find them if they use  their dog’s name or something like “TheBrain55b1″ to log on Twitter. The other reason is that you don’t need to follow/be followed by their sales or customer services but would like to be able to be connected directly to your client, a real human being, not an engagement program.

li1

Twitter just released an embedded app that enables you to connect with your LinkedIn account and automatically lists all of your contacts who have a Twitter account linked to their profile. You won’t reach everyone that way but it’s a good opportunity to tighten up your professional relationships.

South Australia launches online community consultations

We were thrilled to have been at the launch of the community consultations for the update of the South Australian Strategic Plan today.

It was inspiring to see so many community groups, businesses, individuals and government come together for the common goal of making the place we live the best it can be.

South Australia has been really innovative in its approach - which has been recently acknowledged with an international award.

Carve has been working hard alongside the SA Plan team to develop a social media strategy that raises awareness of the plan, its relevance to everyday South Aussies and ultimately encourages them to ‘join the conversation’ wherever it suits them.

This also involved putting the tools in place to allow as many South Australian as possible to engage in the consultation process including a website that allows debate and discussion, a presence on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and more to come as the consultations progress over the next few months.

LinkedIn expanding its Australian operations

Posted on : 01-03-2010 | By : Sarah Thomas | In : Carve Consulting Australia, Consultant blogs

We’ve written before about the growth of LinkedIn in Australia so we were interested to read about the organisations’ plans to increase the headcount in the Sydney office in The Australian newspaper today.

And as I was writing this post the below email from the fairly new MD, Clifford Rosenberg, just popped into my inbox as I imagine it will in every one of the 1 million Australian users this morning.

linkedin

In addition to the appointment of Clifford Rosenberg as MD late last year, the company has also appointed a recruitment director, is looking for more staff and a media partner.

Mr Rosenberg said the decision to expand LinkedIn’s Australian operation came after a year of double-digit growth pushed its overall local audience beyond a million users.

“It’s a great starting point to set up this office and there’s a lot of exciting things we can do over here,” Mr Rosenberg said.

It is not clear how much the company plans to increase its local headcount. “I haven’t got a fixed number in mind. I’m not really at liberty to disclose our numbers by region. I don’t envisage a massive office but I do picture a group of highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals.

“We’re in a number of good discussions with telcos and media partners already, but it’s still very early days.”

You can read the full article from The Australian here.
